Work with a nationally known horse welfare organization
By utilizing Natural Horsemanship in the daily handling of the horses, you will have the opportunity to become familiar with it, and learn how to create a better relationship with each horse you come in contact with. The extent to which you will handle individual horses depends on your ability and desire to learn. More advanced students may be able to work with green or young horses.
The daily chores include cleaning stalls, picking up manure from the paddocks, scrubbing buckets and raking. Horses also need to be groomed, bathed, and treated. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about Holistic Health Care for animals which may include Acupuncture, Chiropractic, Homeopathy and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) if you are at the farm during CHI Institute classes.
In addition Cruelty Investigations are a part of Horse Protection as well. We never know if a cruelty situation will come up in any given time frame, so this may or may not be an experience during your stay at the farm.
An Internship at Horse Protection consists of hard, outdoor work, and is physically demanding, and can be emotionally taxing.
To be considered for an internship please email your resume to Horse Protection. Tell us why you would like to work with Horse Protection, about your interest in horses, animal welfare, Natural Horsemanship, Holistic Health Care, and anything else that you feel would help us get to know you better. Tell us what dates you are interested in and how long of a commitment you are willing to make. Minimum stay is two weeks. Be sure to include phone number along with email address.
After receiving your information, we will contact you and schedule a phone interview.
