Berry

Berry

My name is Mr. Scott, but my friends call me Berry 🫐.  I am a very kind and gentle gorgeous Blue Roan Gaited Racking Horse.  I am an 18-year-old gelding. I have been a therapy horse for the last several years, but the facility is closing, and I am searching for a loving forever home. I will be separated from some of my best horse friends when the facility closes and that makes me sad. But I am very hopeful that a kind human will adopt me and introduce me to their herd where I can make new friends. I am very well mannered. I will stand tied very calmly for extended periods of time. I lift my hooves easily. I love the underneath of my neck scratched and oh, I really, really, love cookies!!!  I also am a true gentleman and have very good ground manners. If you are interested in learning more about me, please message here on Messenger or email Christine at christine@hpaf.org. ❤️ Love, Berry. ❤️

Stella

Hi – I’m Stella – a twelve-year-old Thoroughbred mare. I came to Horse Protection recently with my five other herdmates when our caregiver became ill with breast cancer and could no longer care for us. I am enjoying the green grass and the company of friends. I am rideable but green, so I will need further training. I am very kind and loving. Come and meet me!

Second Annual Giddy Up Gala

Second Annual Giddy Up Gala

Second Annual Giddy Up Gala

The Second Annual Giddy Up Gala was a huge success for the horses. 150 people came out to enjoy a sit down dinner, open bar and tons of entertainment at the beautiful College of Central Florida Vintage Farm Campus on Saturday, November 16th.

This year’s theme: A Mini Mystery:  the Case of the Missing Carrot, was a big hit! We had fun helping the guests solve the caper.

Guests were greeted by the HPAF staff and given their detective badges, then the Miracle Mini “suspects” all dressed up in their finest, escorted them into the venue.

The event Program was styled like an old-fashioned newspaper and was loaded with clues. Guests also picked up clues from the Interrogation Videos and other random places. One was even taped to the bottom of their chairs. In the end, guests cast their votes to ID who stole the missing carrot and one very lucky guest won a diamond bracelet courtesy of Lemieux Diamond Company. All of the runners up received Spirit Walk Gift Certificates.

The Gala was the official launch of our Steadfast Through the Seasons Campaign – a call for monthly donation commitments to provide a stable base of support for the horses that they can depend upon in all seasons. It was a great success with many new donors answering the call.

Horse Protection was very honored to receive the Community Service Award from the Levy County Sheriffs Office for our dedication in rescuing and saving countless horses’ lives. “Had a great time at the HPAF Gala on Saturday. Thanks so much to Jo Harder for inviting me. It was a fabulous event, so much fun… Jo has adopted five of her endurance horses from HPAF. If you’re looking for a new horse or a charity that surely touches your horse loving heart, be sure to check them out. They do great work!”
