Companion horse cupido

My name is Cupido and I am a 24 year old Paso Fino. They named me Cupido because I’m very lovable. I am a sweet gentleman who was rescued from starvation. I have had a bout of founder (which means my feet our ouchy) and need special medication and special shoes to help me feel better. But I am a trooper and am very brave throughout it all. I would make a great companion horse. Thanks for helping me and caring about me. Love, Cupido

Companion Horses

Equines that are not rideable, but are suitable to live happily with other horses are offered as companions. Horse Protection evaluates its horses extensively and provides them with natural horsemanship training to give them any basic groundwork skills that may be lacking so they are suitable companions. Each equine is an individual. We encourage you to learn more about our adoption process.

Pixie

My name is Pixie and I am twenty five years old. I am a Quarter Horse/Mustang cross. My caregiver could not care for me anymore as she was elderly. But Horse Protection came to my aid. I am a very high-spirited gal (I don’t act my age 😊). I like doing neck stretches (especially where there are carrots involved) and I like hanging out with my friends Jackie and Trinity. Please cheer for both me and Horse Protection and route us on! Thank you for caring about me. Love, Pixie.

Jackie

My name is Jackie, and I am a 30 year old Tennessee walking horse. My caregiver could not take care of me anymore as she was elderly and could not afford food for herself, let alone me. Everyone at the farm tells me that I am lovely. I make friends easily and my BFFs are Pixie and Trinity (although I think I am prettier than they are 😊).  I would make a great companion horse for people or for other horses.  Love, Jackie.

Amber

Amber

My name is Amber. I am a 26-year-old Appendix mare. My caregiver could not take care of me anymore and I arrived at Horse Protection very malnourished and over 300 pounds underweight. But I have regained all my weight and now I feel much better! I would make a great companion horse for someone. I enjoy being with other horses and being with humans. I also like it when humans give me fun stuff to eat, like cookies. They are my favorite! Love, Amber.

  • My name is Abbie. I was rescued from starvation along with my sister Zania. Everyone tells me that I am a “total peach of a horse” because I am kind and forgiving. Even though humans were not kind to me and my sister, I still like them. I think maybe I can teach humans some things about forgiveness.  I would also make a great companion horse. Love, Abbie.

Sanctuary Horses

Many of our horses will live here at Horse Protection for the remainder of their lifetime. Either age, infirmity, or some other issue renders these unadoptable but no less worthy of love and care. You can help these horses by essentially adopting them in place - as a sponsor. Learn more about the levels of sponsorship and meet the Sanctuary Horses needing sponsorship.

Arnold

Arnold

Arnold is a BEAUTIFUL Thoroughbred. He is fourteen years old. He is 16 hands and has been trained under saddle and on the ground in natural horsemanship. He is smart, talented, friendly, and funny! He will make you laugh.😆 He and his mom, Ana, are seen in this video. Arnold is ponying his mom Ana who is 23. They are both in good health. They came to us as their caretaker passed away from cancer. We are looking for a VERY SPECIAL person to adopt Arnold and would love someone to consider fostering his mom Ana too!!!
